The transfiguration vision [ Matthew 16 v 27; 17 v 9 ] was like a video preview for us about Jesus' time of glory [ Matthew 25 vs 31, 32, 40 ] when Jesus will act as righteous Judge between the humble sheep and haughty goat-type people alive on earth at his glory time.

We can discern with the ' mind's eye ', so to speak, because as Isaiah wrote and John wrote that it will be the executional words from Jesus' mouth which will rid the earth of the wicked for all time. - Isaiah 11 vs 3,4; Rev. 19 vs 11,15

The ' final signal ', again so to speak, is recorded at 1st Thess. 5 vs 2,3 when ' they ' [ powers that be ] will be saying ' peace '. That cry or saying of ' peace ' is only a precursor to the great tribulation of Revelation 7 v 14 before Jesus, as heavenly Prince of Peace, ushers in global Peace on Earth among men of goodwill at the start of Jesus' coming 1000-year kingdom reign over earth.

He will come in clouds. Every eye will see Him.

If they say He's in the dessert or secret chambers don't believe them. (Matt 24)

It is not a secret. God has revealed it all to Man, but so many choose to ignore and thus are set up to be deceived.

You ask good questions.
Jesus did teach at John 14 v 19 that the world would see him No more [ after his resurrected ascension to heaven ]
So, the manner [ Acts 1 vs 11, 9 B ] of Jesus' return would be unseen as the cloud blocked Jesus from their sight.
As at Micah 1 v 3 when God turned his attention to earth without literally coming down to earth.

What will happen when Jesus ' comes back ', so to speak, is first there is the prophetic cry or saying of ' Peace ' on earth by ' they ' [ they being the political powers that be on earth at that time frame ]. That saying of ' peace' [ 1st Thess. 5 vs 2,3 ] is only in words Not in genuine Peace on Earth. Those words of ' peace ' are just a precursor to the coming great tribulation of Revelation 7 v 14; Jeremiah 25 vs 31-33

It is Jesus taking action, and Not the devil, because action is taken against all of Satan's system [ Rev. 12 vs 9,12 ]
which has brought, Not peace on earth, but brought ' woe ' on earth. Satan's system includes all run-afoul religions which have proven themselves deserving of destruction by playing false to God and His Word.
- Isaiah 11 vs 3,4; Rev. 19 vs 11,15; 2nd Thess. 2 vs 2-8
Jesus will then fulfill God's promise to father Abraham that All families of Earth will be blessed [ Gen. 12 v 3 ] All nations of Earth will be blessed [Gen. 22 v 18 ] Blessed with the healing or curing of Earth's nations- Revelation 22 v 2.
Mankind will see the return of the Genesis ' tree of life ' imparting everlasting life on Earth to all living on Earth by the end of Jesus' 1000-year kingdom reign over Earth when ' enemy death ' will even be brought to nothing.- 1st Corinthians 15 v 26
Jesus will also destroy Satan according to Hebrews 2 v 14 B.

- Psalms 72 vs 8, 12-14; 92 v 7; 37 vs 11, 29, 38-40; Proverbs 2 vs 21,22

Clouds or cloud cover obscured the view of Jesus at Acts 1 v 9.
The world will Not see Jesus again in a literal way according to John 14 v 19
The world will see the effects.

If he's a unseen force in his second coming, how will he interact with us?
Will he act "through the body of Christ?" or through good Christians?

I roughly interpret those to mean the following:
Mankind will put their differences aside and chose peace instead of war because of Christ.
Mankind will conquer illness and death because of Christ.
Mankind will create New Laws and with more equality and fairness because of Christ.
That empire will exists for 1000 years:
Then people who want to watch the world burn will rise up against it and try to overthrow it but fail.
Afterwards a united Humanity will advance forward like never before having put the seven deadly sins behind it's self as things of the past.

I am glad that you form your views objectively with discretion.
Especially, in matters which affect action and sound judgment.

Great discernment, for many are incapable of distinguishing; right from wrong.

In other words, you form a mental image that one can be filled with the Spirit, but Christ has not come in the flesh?

My peace, I give to you, not as the world gives.
In other words, let not your heart be troubled.
