It appears you are thinking of sanctification. That is a life-long process, and separate from salvation.

Baptism is a public expression of salvation. It is only intended for those who have experienced salvation. Confession is made to God, through Christ.

Is it official doctrine of the RCC or the protestants, or of whom that Baptism is a public expression of salvation?

According to Protestants:

Simply accept Jesus as your savior. This only takes one millisecond. Once you do this you are saved for life.

The Catholic Church wants you to accept Jesus, but you must remain a good Christian for the rest of your life.

One millisecond versus a lifetime: The choice is yours!

Julian, you do need to go to Catholic Answers and research this.

So, basically "confess your sins to one another" is meaningless drivel? ....I don't think so.

Well, you don't need to tell your neighbor all your sins if they don't involve him, you do need to take your sins to God though and ask for forgiveness, be absolved and make a true act of contrition. Watching porn isn't any business of your neighbors.

If you have hurt your neighbor though you need to ask for forgiveness and in some cases make restitution. Telling God you are sorry for hurting your neighbor and then continuing to hurt your neighbor isn't being sorry.

Hans, you do have a lot of questions. I would take them here Catholic Answers and then to the forum or do a search of certain questions. You can find many articles and answers to questions you would have. EWTN Global Catholic Television Network: Catholic TV, Catholic Radio, and Catholic News is also a good place to take questions, do a search there as well.

I can't speak for Catholics. I'm Southern Baptist.
