The dishonest steward had made friends with people by cutting their debt expecting to have a place when he got fired, which was a shrewd thing to do in the way of the world. So, the master essentially said, "Good thinking, Bye."
The upshot of the parable comes in the sentence: "
11So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?"
What is the difference between worldly wealth and true riches?
How do you think the dishonest steward would fare with his "friends?"
