It was nice to see that people still have religious freedom in our country, based on the Supreme Court decision in the Hobby Lobby Case. This means private companies who have religious beliefs against birth control or abortion are not forced to pay for their employees contraception or abortions. This is important because it means people are allowed to not just believe certain things, but that they may also act according to their beliefs. That is the true nature of a religion.

They actually ruled that only in closely held private companies, not ALL privately held companies, could this ruling apply.
If there is diverse private ownership, this would not apply, in other words.
Overall, a good ruling, from this atheists point of view. It narrowly defines what a closely held company is, and that in those cases, the religious freedom of those owners can be reflected.
If I am not mistaken, it also points out that the failure of a company to provide contraception is not necessarily a burden as other options may apply.
Which means the ruling is good and bad. The fact is religious folks who work for a "diverse" ownership company, will still have their premiums being used to abort babies. The battle is still not over. But it's a start.
Yippee Why should a company's owner have the "freedom" in force his particluar brand of religion on his/her employees? Would you like to see a company owned by a Muslim able to tell all his female employees they had to cover their heads all day at work?
Of course the bigger picture is, why do employers have ANYTHING to do with our health insurance? That's one of the biggest failures of the U.S.
If birth control is unaffordable, abortions will increase.
A corporation is a legal entity with special liability protections. Give those up, and act as individual people. Then we'll talk about your First Amendment rights. Either you are a person, with all that involves, or you are not.
So the family that owns Hobby Lobby gets to decide which pills it will cover through insurance. Because they're religious and anti-abortion. And they get to continue making massive amounts of money selling stuff that is made in China. By Chinese women who live in dorms and work in factories for not very much money. And who are subject to forced abortions by a government with a "one child" policy.
I'm assuming the Hobby Lobby people had sparkling cider and a celebratory toast this morning.

So true. They're just trying to make a political statement, IMO. I'll never understand the stupidity of being anti-birth control.
But in the meantime, there's always Michael's for your hobby needs.
The "stupidity" of being against abortion is being against murder. The child is a human being. And don't tell me the law doesn't consider the unborn baby a human being. If you remember the Lacy/Scott Peterson murder case in Calif., Mr. Peterson was convicted on two counts of murder, one for his wife and one of his unborn child. Not only that, but quite a few states ban late term abortions. Why, if it isn't a human being with rights, like to be able to live its life.
