Personally, and this is just my opinion, but I think it's the hole that Satan fell through when GOD casted him out of heaven and he's been using it to fascinate us and spook us out to no end. I don't think it's some "evil vortex" the historians claim it is..I think it's a gate. the gate in which Satan fell from Heaven.
