You seem to be quite clear in your statements that you know the mind of God. You ignore what the Bible actually says and instead tell us what you think he is. Who's the arrogant one? I'm the one that actually reads what he gave us.

They're so convinced God hates they're going off on anyone and everyone who disagrees with them. That thread backs up BOTH of TroutDude's statements.

With more children being born to single parents each day, it is hard to believe people are still following a book that tells you an innocent child will suffer for the sins of their parents.
Ever notice when a fundie has a child out of wedlock, they dimiss this the entire bastard thing by saying, "Well at least I didn't have an abortion." People only follow the parts of the bible that work for them.

Again...we actually believe what God said about himself. We're not the arrogant ones who ignore what God himself said in order to come up with our own ideas. Why not believe what God said instead of telling us your opinion of him?

If you think it's "We" against everyone else.... perhaps you should join the fundamentalists on that thread. They think in the same terms and they'll probably be happy to know there's one more fundamentalist who sees religion as Us vs Them.
I see plenty of anger and intolerance coming from the liberal atheist side.
What about conservative atheists? Libertarian atheists? I don't think political views make much of a difference here, and trying to classify atheists as theologically liberal or conservative is kind of a waste of energy...
Aaaand this is why I'm anti-religion. The sick and twisted morality that spews from the mouths of the devout is foul enough to curdle milk and wilt flowers. Thanks, Jeff, for being at least a small part of the reason why people are leaving Christianity in droves. Keep it up, by all means, and let's see if we can push those who are religious down into the 60th percentile.
So being against sin and seeking righteous is sick and twisted? Your distortion of Christian is amazing. The faith I believe in teaches that EVERY human being is a unique creation and has value to God. So someone who is hopelessly hooked on meth like Brian Head Welch can find new life and meaning. A prostitute who is treated like a worthless human being can leave that lifestyle and know that God created her, loves her and designed her for a purpose. Part of that unique design is that we all have individual talents and abilities. (another thing evolution can't explain)
It teaches helping others beyond our own selfish desires in love and forgiveness. Is that really twisted? So as you see more people leave Christianity then you see the suicide rate go up because in your world, there is no hope, no peace, no self-worth beyond the luck that random forces gives you.

I don't think it's fair, but anything involving sin is hardly fair. Is it fair that a rock star can sleep with a 1000 women and not get a STD, but joe blow gets HIV after a few sexual encounters? A just God is under no obligation to make everything equal and exactly fair in this lifetime. But we have the promise that our eternal life will be wonderful and pain free.

Nope, God had a plan to save humanity and destroy sin once and for all. The Old Covenant served a purpose as part of that plan. If you want to blame someone, blame Satan for making people's lives miserable.
