They believed in a easy message that they think saves them from God's wrath, but nothing in the Bible supports such a thing. It actually stunts their spiritual growth. It's a tragic thing.
There is no such thing as "easy salvation" or "easy believism". True salvation is from the heart, with real repentance. It results in a changed person, a changed life. That is what James is talking about.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

Believing/salvation is easy.

Sanctification is not easy.

James is talking sanctification. His audience is believers (note the use of the word brethren).

The "being saved" doctrine is Satanic.
Well, the Apostles considered themselves saved before having "gone to Heaven". Why? Because they received the earnest of that salvation by having obtained the Holy Spirit.

No it isn't. It is just confused with being "born again" . . . as you do here. Christ saved us all, period. We have nothing to do with it. But our sanctification is on the line and will determine what we reap when we die and are "born again" as Spirit . . . as Christ was. As I posted earlier:

Salvation was Christ's job and He completed it. Sanctification IS our job and it involves trying to "love God and each other daily" and repent when we don't . . . NOT the "easy believism" relying on rituals and magic to "save" us. We ARE saved. It is our sanctification that is in question and it will affect reaping what we sow. We will all reap whatever we sow and have not repented for. If we do not repent everything that is non-love will be refined out as dross in the consuming fire of God's pure love after death. It will not be pleasant . . . but we are still "saved as by fire."

You are right, jimmie . . . you just misunderstand how Christ saved us. You think we have something to do with it and we do NOT. But sanctification IS our responsibility.

They believed they were saved because they believed Jesus. Jesus said "It is finished." They knew we have nothing to do with our salvation . . . just our sanctification.
