I'm addressing this to people who consider themselves strong or serious Christians. I used to think it was sinful to say it, but there are many parts of the Bible that are dull. (A devout Christian laughed when I told her I would offend her by saying this: "Oh, yes, there are parts of the Bible that are very dull!" she said.)

What parts do you find to be the least interesting?

Yup. I second this.

Having said that, even these parts play a role. The Bible is not just for our entertainment, but it's a recorded history of God's interaction with man. That includes the geneologies.

The Bible also includes the slaughter of children and the unborn. It also describes the rape of a woman who is then murdered and cut in 12 pieces. Violent, but not boring!

Jewish laws, description of the temples, genealogies. The Bible is layered so even the dull parts have significance, though.

Yup, they show how a god can order a genocide.

Oh, except the soldiers get to keep the virgins for, you know, their own pleasure.

Not boring, but what morals are being taught?

The Bible is not for entertainment, such as a Harry Potter novel. It is the written Word of God, useful for preaching and teaching and rebuking in righteousness.

Killing innocents and keep virgins for the soldiers' pleasure is righteousness?

And you want that morality preached loud and proud from the pulpit?

REALLY?

True, but it also shows God knows His people by name and family relationships as well. He is interested and cares.
