Belittling as an effect of disproving another's belief, but not mocking. I am 22 and I live a good life with a wife and child on the way. We have family that love and support us... I work out and run regularly, not so much as of late what with the weather... Ad Hominem is an attack on the person instead of the argument at hand. You employ this most ineffectively. Any emptiness I have felt would be have been during the process of denunciation of my religion. I don't deride or mock, just point out absurdities in contemporary beliefs. "I do respect your religion, but only to the extent that I respect your theory that your girlfriend is pretty."

Please, go to a LDS church for a couple Sundays and then come back and regain your credibility as a professed perfect Christian.

Freedom,
You didn't know that I'm perfect? That may explain why some wonder if you are LDS. If you recommend going to a LDS church, then you must have done so yourself to give such advice. To which I would say...no thanks.
Obscure concept like Jesus' blood covering your sins? How far have you fallen from the truth!!! ?

I do not have to gain credibility with man but with God. Yes I'm perfect. Nor have I said that I have a license to sin. I would suggest stop listening to those who offer something other than the way, the truth and the life.

Why I'm perfect ... read Hebrews 10:14

the blood of the lamb ... Romans 5:9
"Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!"

Deny this and you will face God's wrath. No cross, no perfection.

A most critical part of the Gospel of Christ is repentance. No repentance, no forgiveness, no forgiveness of ourselves and everyone else brings judgement.

If you sin, you sin. There is no magic blanket that Jesus can't see through.

All you know about LDS is second hand. I'll take you as more credible when you have a first hand experience.

godspeed,

freedom

Freedom,
If not going to the source via by talking to LDS members, by listening to missionaries at my door or reading the responses here from pro-LDS, have been given the BoM is what you consider second hand info isn't enough, then so be it. That is the same empty argument when all else fails.....

Quite frankly, I don't need to get on the bus and go over the cliff (spiritually speaking) to get that first hand knowledge. I can tell you however, for those who choose to go over the cliff, how it ends........ but then that would be second hand knowledge.....

I've spoken with Protestants that say if you say the magic prayer you can go and murder someone and still be with Jesus.

I've talked with self professed "Born Again" Christians that say you don't have to live the teachings of Jesus, because He did it for you.

Do i judge all Mainstream Christians by those examples.

My Point is that i've talked with dozens of LDS missionaries and they knew very little about the faith they were raised in, they had limited knowledge of the church and its beliefs. They have a handbook of discussions and processes that they go by.

If you want to really know a religion you must look deeper than the surface.

Have you ever even read the B.O.M.? Do you even know the history of J. Smith?

Before you condemn you should dig deeper, then maybe you'll see that the LDS are just another church that has lost its roots. Just like Evan's, Born Agains, Catholic, Methodist, Protestants, etc.....
Eyes single to HIS Glory, not to some religion with man's fingerprints all over it.

The way to know the full truth is to go direct. Not to bash another group of believers, deflecting from our own lack of understanding, and misguided teachers.

You believe Jesus doesn't see your sin... how is that even possible to say that Jesus doesn't see something? Especially when He said that we shall all be Judged for our very thoughts, let alone our deeds.

godspeed,

freedom

Freedom,
These are very good points, which is why I would like this particular thread closed. For your questions and experiences are serious enough topics that could be in themselves be a new thread(s). As I think about it, I may just open a thread with those subject questions

As far as I'm concerned, this thread has run its coarse with all views, beliefs and opinions expressed and defended from both sides and ask that it be closed. If you can help with that, that would be great!

I'm not a mod and i'm not the OP, so no need to close it on my behalf.

It is apparent that many self professed Christians condemn the LDS church members and their particular belief without having any first hand account of their day to day lives or faith.

I have yet to meet a LDS basher that has even stepped one foot into their Chapel or Attended any classes that take place after Sacrament.

There certainly are a diverse amount of ex members that have their say, and i respect their opinions over those that are simply parroting something they've learned in their EV church from a Pulpit pounder, which has never stepped one foot into a LDS church.

So i take your opinion and views as juvenile and uninformed. That goes for your new thread as well. It's out of context and points out your fanatical condemnation of fellow believers.

godspeed,

freedom

Now how can a church loose it roots if it has never changed its beliefs, like the Catholic church. Not once has our doctrine changed.

In the Catholic case, its roots set by Christ and Paul were lost at the council of Nicea. The first to go down the path of looking to man instead of going direct to God and Christ.
