Tradition has its place but it depends what is the basis for that tradition. If tradition is rooted in what Jesus and the apostles taught then fine. Traditions developed after the death of the apostles...who knows?

2 Thessalonians 2:15 states, "So then, brothers, stand firm and maintain your hold on the traditions that you were taught, whether it was by a spoken message or by a letter from us."

2 Corinthians 11:2, "I commend you because in all things you remember me and you are holding fast the traditions just as I handed them on to you."

Who would separate them? I thought that the same early Roman church which selected the canon of scripture also created the traditions.

Of course is the question. Can a Christian serve God alone in everyday life interacting with his neighbor. And if that is all he did all his days would this be righteous in the eyes of our Lord.
Well of course. Traditions in themselves are a recognition of the past rituals. And the observance of the ritual is to understand it's meaning. Tradition is a ritual. So be careful how you observe.

Sola Scriptura folks fail to understand that it is impossible to live without traditions.

Furthermore, a book by itself is not enough to be a Christian. Without Oral Tradition there is no Christianity in the world. I would venture to say that Oral Tradition is more important than the Bible.

What should have greater authority, the Bible or Church traditions?

They would be equal since both came from Christ.

Why would either be considered authority? Jesus promised a guide and it is neither traditions nor writings of men.

I think the original early century Church traditions might have come from Christ, but modern day churches have veered away.

Neither should have any authority in the real world.
