So some are saying throw out the bible, throw out tradition, I will be my own guide on morals.
Good luck with that.
I doubt that anyone is saying to throw them out, but to recognize that they have no authority as such. Why do literalists and traditionalists not believe the promise of a guide?

Scripture is the written word of God. God will never tell you something in opposition to Scripture.
Scriptures without tradition are meaningless.
It would be like trying to become a physician by just reading one book and ignoring medical school, internship, residency, fellowships, conferences, seminars, and the day to day interaction with those that pass down wisdom to the next generation.
The scriptures need men and women to promote the word of God. Without passing this tradition from generation to generation Christianity dies.

Julian, Christianity only dies when it denies the power behind it, which is Christ in us who is the hope of glory.

Sure, as long as tradition is not in opposition to Scripture.
I would have to know "which church" you are referring to in order to fully answer your question.
