"For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be Holy and blameless in His sight. (Eph. 1:4)

Who is the "US" in this verse?

Blessings,

Katie

Those who worship God in Spirit and Truth; (cf; Believers in Christ)!

IMO, a few things that cause folks to complicate this and other verses with 'humanized' concepts of predestination or universalism:

1). An unwillingness to accept God's pre-cognition; without injecting a human view of 'pre-destination' control or manipulation
2). An unwillingness to believe that when God Word says things like "all, us, the world, etc", it is speaking about those whom "God foreknew from the foundations of the world," NOT every person who has ever existed.
3). An unwillingness to accept God as timeless and eternal; ... set apart from human concepts of past, present and future time. (In Genesis, God created 'time', as we understand it, for our benefit ... NOT His!).

Amen! It is Christ who was chosen before the world was made. Those who are in Christ are predestined. Christians are predestined. Christians are the "us" in Eph. 1:4.

Another excellent post -

When we fail to recognize the omniscience of God, we go off on many wrong-headed conclusions about the scriptures.
