We're talking specifically about CHRISTIAN mission work, which is Gospel centered. Europe desperately needs that.

It is more expensive than having a missionary elsewhere even elsewhere in the US. Even though Europe is fairly liberal in regards to religion the fact that several European countries still have official national churches might pose a problem too if someone in power got a big in their ear. Moreover, most large denominations have local churches at least somewhere in Europe so their might be the issue of whose see or mission territory it is.

Many Europeans are Catholic (not counting the Muslim areas). Are people saying that they should convert to some other Christian denomination? I don't think Benny Hinn or Billy Graham are Catholic.

So many Europeans are Catholic in name only. Infact more and more people are even abandoning the Catholic faith in Europe. Infact in France over 50% of people have never been to a church. The UK is similar as well.

In addition there are more Muslims attending mosques in the UK on friday than Anglicans on a Sunday.

The two fastest growing religions in Europe are secularism (no religious affiliation, agnosticism, atheism, &ct.) and Islam.

In addition there are countries in Europe where a majority of the people have stated they are not Christian and they are the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Eastern part of Germany.

Germany has more atheists than the USA yet the USA has 3 times more the population as Germany.

For those whose faith moves them to emulate Christ, you can make a real difference in the lives of needy orphaned children in eastern Europe: check out Bible Orphan Ministry's blog at http://bibleorphanministry.blogspot.org

(If the link doesn't work, just look for "Bible Orphan Ministry" online).

This tiny all-Ukrainian ministry has four unsalaried workers, who serve over 1,000 children living in ten orphanages and mental institutions (where developmentally delayed orphaned children are routinely sent if not adopted) in an area west of Kyiv which is not experiencing the violence of war at present, although it is suffering from shortages, power outages, and inflation.

BOM members teach interactive Bible lessons, provide donated food, clothing, toiletries, medications, firewood, and more, in addition to providing guidance to and assisting aged-out teens (many of whom are already married and have babies, though still in their teens themselves) with the practicalities of independent adult living and parenting.

BOM is affiliated with a small Ukrainian independent Baptist church, and they embody the Hands and Feet of Christ in the World. From time to time, they conduct online fundraisers for specific needs: right now, they are fundraising to provide new winter shoes and winter coats for 50 orphaned teenagers who are now wearing outgrown, shabby hand-me-downs. You can find more info about this on their blog. About 56% of the needed amount has been raised as of this morning - the project runs through December 22.

So if anyone is looking for a specific way to help bring the teachings of the Gospel to Europeans, and to live what Christ taught at the same time, please consider Bible Orphan Ministry. They do not advertise, nor will you be placed on a mailing list or receive solicitations or unwanted emails. All fundraising projects are listed only online, and if you prefer not to use a ChipIn!/PitchIn! button, inquire about their American contact person, who can transfer donations to Ukraine.

BOM's staff of four are honest, devoted, hard-working, and modest. They are saving lives and souls, and are bringing hope and love to the helpless and vulnerable.

Europeans are not religious. They are and have left their churches in droves.

And that is the problem. They think they can "buy" converts by being nice instead of teaching them. That was seen to be a failure in China where we get the term "Rice Christians" from. They came for food and left when it was gone.

A friend went on a mission, They played ball, prayed , sang, distributed food and did no teaching at all.

Locally a neighbor goes on missions to Africa. Spends 1/2 the year here and gets money from local churches, then goes to Africa. Oops he buys homes for himself and his kids and as rentals, with a LOT of the donated money. Brings one or two "natives" over occasionally. Oh he also got beat up for getting involved in their politics. Never mentions teaching either.

I suspect Paul would not have been happy.
