Matthew 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
Isn't this enough to motivate us to continue the discussion of what is right and good? Are we so easily put off by disagreement that we cannot engage in a serious discussion that will support our beliefs?
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'
"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually come and attack me!'"
And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

If they cannot hear Him now, then arguing as if you are trying to beat the truth in him is futile.
There is a time to acknowledge His ministry and lack thereof to walk away.

I believe the reference from that errant modern version as the correct one is in the KJV was about prayer. It was not about hammering at someone that refuse to hear and is in fact a scorner or a mocker.
The Lord Jesus Christ as our Good Shepherd will let us know when to walk away, as in let go & let God.
