doubt it ... law and gospel is what is found in our churches.

I'm familiar with the concept of Law and Gospel, yes. It's the "key to interpreting scripture" according to conservative Lutheran theology.

Law = you are a terrible person deserving nothing but eternal torture after you die

Gospel = a human sacrifice will save you from your deserved punishment if you admit that you are a terrible person

That's not a distortion, that's specifically what I was taught. It's even in the order of service every Sunday.

That stuff makes Fifty Shades of Grey seem like wholesome family entertainment.
