Matthew 7:22-23 "On Judgment day many will tell me, Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name. But I will reply, I never knew you. Go away, the things you did were unauthorized".

Only our acceptance of Jesus as Savior is what matters. Many people think if they say and do "religious things" they can get into Heaven, but faith in Christ is the only thing that will count on judgment day.

Well, so says Jesus according to the anonymous author of the book we call Matthew written decades after Jesus died... If you believe such a person can put an exact quote together after at least 50 years, go ahead. I find that rather ludicrous at best. "Matthew," written 80-100 AD, was heavily influenced by Paul's teachings (and Paul never met Jesus). It is what we would call today, "Historical Fiction" or, perhaps, an "unauthorized biography" written to meet the needs of the author more than to give verbatim quotes and accurate information.

And that's the fact, Jack.

Yes I believe the Bible is God's Word and Jesus said it and you can disbelieve if you want.

Forgive me, but I have to add these things in when the time arises because if I place them in a thread to themselves, some cry "trolling"

Anyway, speaking of remembering a quote 50 years later, I have always wondered who heard Jesus praying in Gethsemane? His Disciples were asleep, right? He was also a little away from them. Yet we supposedly are told what he said in his prayer.

Next, in the Gospel (according to) of John, I think there is a chapter where Jesus supposedly says over 6,000 words in succession. I'm supposed to believe someone remembered all of that verbatim decades or more later?

Arguing with those who worship mystery in place of fact is fruitless, however. May your faith bring you peace.
What if you're wrong and we're right?
