There is no such thing as loving fear when it comes to God, or anything else, but we are talking about God here so I'll stick to God.
A person is either in fear or in faith. Period. One or the other and they are mutually exclusive. When I am in fear (including fear of god) I have left my faith behind. When I am in faith, fear falls away.
I do more for, and have a closer better relationship with, a loving parent than one I am afraid of. Same for God.
Good points..If your faith is strong, there is no reason to fear God..He is pure love..I don't fear love..
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?." He answered "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind." That is the greatest, the first commandment. The second is like it: love your neighbour as yourself. Everything in the law and the prophets hangs on these two commandments". Mt 22:36-40
JHMO..Everyday should be a day to reflect on God..I think that if you honor God by doing his will each day, by deeds and prayer, you are honoring the sabbath..IMO God created the sabbath as a rest day not only for reflecting on his blessings, but as a rest day for our human bodies to replenish themselves..Jesus showed us that everyday necessary work should be done on the sabbath..A lot of laws in the ot were given for our health and prevention of diseases. IMO..
Amen
Did Jesus not say He was Lord of the Sabbath? Seems like he ticked off a few folk doing stuff on their "holy" day like healing the sick, casting out demons aka good works.
IMO we are designed to have 1/7 break day, you find it in most cultures.

Sure there is, the fear of the Lord is to "hate evil." That's a loving fear. It also keeps us in awe and reverence of the power of the Lord. Sinful fear will lead us away from God, Loving fear will help us to cling to God, and run away from evil.
It's a poor argument and lacks a full understanding of Scripture, we can show a thousand verse that declare otherwise.
I'll take the Holy Spirit's guidance and promptings to live Christ, and the words of Jesus over every other scripture.
"Be gone from me, ye that worketh iniquity"... Jesus Christ, Son of God.
godspeed,
freedom
