The quote is from a character in a play. Bale wrote plays as farces
to mock the Catholic hierarchy.
Bale later wrote that Cromwell rescued him “on account of [my] comedies” (Harris 100).

Bale made up a lot of things in his anti-Catholic rants and jokes.
His main beef was that he thought the Church corrupted early Christianity.
He was a believer. Therefore the quote isn't even meant to be taken as
some type of anti-Christian discovery as it is irresponsibly and incorrectly
portrayed by "Christ-myth" proponents on the internet today, but rather
as a strictly anti-Catholic polemic in the early period of English stage drama.

No, I don't know for sure. But you are refusing to know any better. You have got as far as 'it was a in an anti -papist farce' and that is good enough to dismiss it and look no further.

But I did and found that Bale appears to have used a real quote by the Pope he was sending up. I read that the quote or something similar was in the memoir of one (and possibly two) officials near to the Pope in question and I found the title of one of the books.

I am far from certain as I couldn't find anything out about the book or memoir, so I can't verify it. Also it sounds odd that Bale was quoting about a (presumably) contemporary pope from a book that surely wouldn't be written until that Pope couldn't dish out retribution to the author!

But I'm just saying that your objection is not the last word. And if you continue to insist that it is, it is you who is in the wrong, absolutely.

Clearly the Internet is not in itself either helping or hindering Christianity. It is spreading information. Maybe it is behind the increase in Christianity in China and Russia, but I would bet that it would be either missionary activity or political changes that are behind this.

The Internet can disseminate the arguments of Theist apologetics, and very persuasive they can be, too. But it does now carry the terminal debunking of those apologetics and that is doing the cause of Christianity no good at all.

The last figures were a bit disappointing. 5%...well better than a 5% decline in irreligion and atheism. Another few years and another 5% and that'll start to be noticed. But mnaybe the real figures are actually better permit me a little Denial about this?

But, but, but...NARROW is the gate....and FEW are chosen....your alleged facts seem to be in direction contradiction to Matthew 7:14...

As many evangelicals do, they claim they have the only TRUTH and only a few will know it, then to justify their TRUTH they point to BILLIONS who are headed for the promised lands...

On another thread it will be only a few of the 83% of Americans who claim to be christian actually are. You cannot make this stuff up.

Just because people follow someone does not make them Christian. Look at the idiots who follow Obama for instance. Just because he is a raving Muslim lunatic does not make them all that

It is very clear that the percentage of religious people was very high before the Internet age in the early 90's and has dropped significantly with increased internet usage. Yes, the Internet has given a platform for the religious to speak, but it has also given a platform for the non religious to speak.

With the stats in mind, I'd say the rise is in the number of non-affiliated / agnostic / atheist.

It would be hard to argue that Christianity is on the rise due to the Internet, the stats state otherwise.

I was clear about where it is spreading, and I did not say anything about UK. In many European countries people are turning against Christ, and as you can see from the comments on this board, the trend is spreading to US too.
