What hidden meaning can you possibly get out of "smashing babies" to death?

God does not speak of the flesh. He speaks of the spirit.

Because it doesn't mean what you think it means. Killing the people whether it be women, men or babies is not killing them physically but spiritually. One might say, how do you kill them physically?
God uses His servants to spread the sword, His word. It is double edged. Those who take up the sword live those who refuse the sword die. The righteous live , sinners die.

There are many things in the Bible that people do not understand and they accept it but then think they understand others so, if they do not understand one thing what makes them think they understand any of it.

"Let him who is wise understand these things, let him who is prudent know them. Straight are the ways of the Lord, the righteous walk in them but sinners stumble in them."says the Lord

And killing babies "spiritually" is somehow better than physically?

Except those stories recorded involve historical events, and were recorded by "God's swordsmen" to justify their actions.

Unless you believe Jesus is an allegory as well???

"Dash babies on the rocks" is the favorite verse of all Bible bashers. No, God did not order anyone to do such thing. The Babylonians did it to Israelites, and the author of a Psalm foretold the Jews would take their revenge in the same manner.

It makes it a historical fact. The Babylonians did it, and you are trying to accuse God for it. Contrary to claims here the Bible does not say Babylonians or Jews used God to justify it.

And God did not ordain a place of eternal torment, either.
