I am sorry for your loss also. It is hard to see those who have always been part of our lives go. It takes a little piece of us with them. May your memories and faith sustain you.
MQ, I love how you expressed this. It's so true ... they take a piece of us with them, and it's so hard to let go. Thank goodness that they also leave a big chunk of themselves -- the essence of who they are -- with us.
Recently, my uncle passed away. He was a Christian, a believer in Jesus. These are comforting words to remember.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Those Who Died in Christ
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
Yes those are comforting words ... as are these of Jesus'
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;
and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.” John 11:25-26
Thank you all. The 1 Thess. passage has long been my favorite scripture. I recently challenged my Bible study group to commit scripture to memory. To be a good example, I did this one. Ever since, I've been it saying every day, to "lock it in".
*I watch my grandson every Thursday. I must've said it to him 100 times! He's 3 yo, lol!

So, sorry for your loss, and may you continue to find comfort in the Bible's promise of a resurrection. - Acts 24:15
We do know, according to Revelation 20:6, Jesus' spiritual ' brothers ' called to heaven have a first or earlier resurrection.
They are the ' first fruits ' of those who sleep in death - 1st Corinthians 15:20,23
