2. Do you honestly believe God is judging heterosexuals by this?
Pat Robertson, and all sorts of fundamentalist ideologues have blamed homosexuality for every world problem, disease, tsunami, snowpocalyps et-al.
They seem to think they speak for God, and the astonishing thing is people believe them.
They have to blame someone. Either heterosexuals, or homosexuals.
Over time, women will be blamed for having sex. They must submit, and they are not allowed to practice reliable birth control. and they are not allowed to end their pregnancies.
1. I would probably be called a "Fundamentalist" by most people on this board. Having said that, I don't "denigrate" scientists, nor do I think vaccines are any sort of strange voodoo. Science is good. It is a blessing from God that we have medical knowledge and technology.
2. Do you honestly believe God is judging heterosexuals by this?
Item 1: But are you not a young earth creationist? Science in medicine is fine and God blessed, but regarding geology, archaeology, and biology with regard to creation?
2. That was a sarcastic comment. There were any number of fundamentalist TV preachers who have declared AIDS was a judgment of God on homosexuality (even as late as the early 2000's). I simply used the reverse to point out the stupidity of such statements--including my own---hence the sarcasm emote.

Pat Robertson does not speak for me, nor has he ever spoken for me. He's a senile old man that needs to just shut up. And I've said that on this board before

Please don't confuse me with one of those tv hucksters. You call them "fundamentalist", but they are hardly like me, whom you also call a "fundamentalist". I have never suggested that AIDS is a punishment from God. If that was the case, it's amazing how many non-gay people have died as a result of it.

He is not the only one, Viz. Some of them are far from senile, and not that old. They are drowning you out. You need a bigger voice.

But I reject "modern" so-called christianity. Young earth creationists ARE hucksters. Read a bit on how it all came about early last century:
Quote:
By far the most influential proponent of young-earth creationism in the 1920s and 1930s was George McCready Price, the acknowledged “father” of modern young-earth creationism.
George McCready Price
Price, a Seventh-Day Adventist1 and a self-described “geologist,” had nothing beyond an elementary school-level education in the sciences. However, historian Ronald Numbers points out that Price “considered it a virtue that he had never been infected with the disease of ‘universityitis.’”2 Undaunted, and believing that God had called him to uphold the true biblical view of creation, Price began researching and writing on science-related issues in the early 1900s.
Price rejected the day-age theory and advocated what he labeled “the new catastrophism” or “flood geology,” a theory that held that a universal flood had reshaped the earth according to its current features. This was an extreme position that relatively few Christians held, including most educated anti-evolutionists—but the theory gradually gained wider acceptance due to Price’s exhaustive efforts. In 1902, he published Outlines of Modern Christianity and Modern Science, which he later hailed as “the first Fundamentalist book.”3 In it he asserts that “life has been on our globe only some six or seven thousand years,” and that “the earth as we know it...was brought into existence in six literal days.”4
Over the next 30 years, Price penned more than two dozen other books and hundreds of articles promoting his flood geology theory. Yet he devoted relatively little attention to critiquing evolution per se. After all, if Earth was in fact only a few thousand years old, then no time would be left for evolution to take effect. Price dismissed Neanderthals and other bipedal hominids as “degenerate offshoots which had separated from the main stock”5 of humanity.
We are here not to see men bury men but to see men who are set free from their fears raise those from the dead that that are in fear.
