While I do not consider myself as an "evangelical" (what ever you choose to imply by the word) I find the use of biblical examples has a long history within mankind and have worked very well. For example, the laws against committing murder come from the 10 commandments (often incorrectly seen as a reference to all killing rather than murder as it clearly means) and the concept of capital punishment for those who do. It is a very effective method and the recidivism rate is 0%. While no one converts to Christianity by keeping laws, it is a well founded historical fact that law's based on the book of scripture used by many in the overall Christian community are effective and beneficial to any society.

Jesus condones slavery and other practices today's world doesn't approve of.

Really? Where did Jesus say to take slaves and for his followers to own slaves?

John 5:19
Jesus gave them this answer: "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.

Are conversions to conservative Christianity different than conversions to liberal Christianity? There is only one Christ, not two.

Politically active? Why is anyone politically active? People want to have laws that reflect their values. Seems obvious.
There must be two versions of Jesus, because one cannot be conservative and liberal at the same time.

Didn't Jesus say slaves were to be obedient to their master?

Since Jesus never condemned slavery, we might hope that he thought of slavery in the relatively benign forms that are sometimes found in the Old Testament. Not so. When he spoke about the relationship of slaves and masters, he assumed that violence and abuse were the order of the day. Typical is Luke 12:47-48, where even a servant who doesn’t know what he ought to do gets beaten.

The servant who knows the master’s will and does not get ready or does not do what the master wants will be beaten with many blows. But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows.

That passage is part of a larger parable that is supposed to scare us into submission to God. Like a slave or servant, we will be physically harmed if we’re not good enough.

What did Jesus say about slavery?

Nowhere in the New Testament will you find a condemnation of slavery, nor an updating of the Mosaic slave code. Instead you have stuff like Ephesians 6 where slaves are told to be “obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling”; and Philemon, where Paul sends back a runaway slave to his Christian owner. Jesus does not raise a word against the practice.

Why did Jesus and Paul not condemn slavery

Evangelicals: Do you think legislating conservative Christian morality will win more souls to Christ?

When, I see the unscrupulous SLAUGHTERING of men, women and children, as viewed in the Bible.
Along with homosexuals and unbelievers - those who others condemn as sinners.

It is these false doctrines that need to be utterly destroyed; just as death, itself - does!

"Winning souls to Christ" = Attempting to make more people accepting and understanding of evangelicals.

If more Christians were honest they would understand what their faith is really about under the surface.
