He's got a valid point. The organization teaches things that explicitly contradict what the RCC teaches.
My wife and I have made a decision we didn't want our daughters involved in Girl Scouts as a result of their positions on some things. We are not Catholic, but we do believe some of the Girl Scouts' positions violate our faith.
I would agree with Archbishop Carlson if there exists a leftest, humanist part of instruction . There is less concern these days of lesbian and or male pediphilia involvement due to screening being accelerated. The values should be generic ie, citizenship , character, honestly and teamwork to mention a few. God and country then even safety, work ethic, and kindness to creatures and their habitat. Respect for the elderly, religions, police, military ,presidency, and homeless. Lastly being a pepper I must add survival skills and preparation, sewing, washing and policing camp.

The scouts are not associated with the RCC are they?
What could a group of little gilrs possibly do that would upset the big bad organized church?

It's a pretty large organization. It is instilling certain moral teachings in the youth of America. Some of those moral teachings go against what Christianity teaches, and against what the RCC teaches.

So are you now supporting the RCC?
Nope. I've never said that I was. But we do agree on some things.
I know this is a little off topic of the girl scouts...I was one way back. Learned how to swim from the girl scout group activities.
My long life in organized catholic religion taught me these:
Guilt, Fear, Sins, Shame, No Fish on Friday, Hats on Heads, Confession (made up sins to say confession), god is watching, god sees all, god knows all, never step foot in other churches, never date a non catholic...I and so many are so brainwashed from day they are born...many are breaking the ties and many do it easily and for many it takes time.

Whose "moral" standards should we use? Yours? Mine? Buddha?
Seems like s slippery slope when we start demanding morals be aligned to any standard?
What teachings go against the boxed in god?
