Many of these authors will disagree with each other on various issues, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Like Brazen Church, these books aren’t about replacing your old ideology with a new, equally dogmatic one. They’re about breaking the box that we’ve placed God in and exposing us to a more complex, dynamic, and beautiful reality than our minds have made room for. You’ll learn a ton from every single one of these authors.

I've heard of a few of them. They are emergent church leaders that couldn't make it in a church that actually demanded they teach sound Biblical doctrine. Instead, they just kind of roll their own theology as they go, and they allegorize everything in the Bible to "tell a story".
Honestly? As a pastor who is charged to protect his sheep, I'd warn my people to stay as far away as possible from this list.

No doubt as it allows to church to maintain control of the flock, lest they actually realize FREE WILL exists.
As christian, why would one be afraid of reading? Is the possibility of knowledge that FRIGHTENING?
Back in the day I would read anything and everything, and I somehow managed to stay enthralled with the fundie movement for 15 years. It was actually the bible itself that taught me free will was not only GOOD, but what GOD wanted us to use.
He does not want BORG style worship--He has the angels for that--and even they seem to have FREE WILL as the story tells us that at least ONE rebelled and found his/her free will...Why aren't any of the Arch Angles WOMEN??

If "emergent church" teaches that 93.2 percent of those doctrines are a load of hooey cooked up by a controlling "clergy," that would be the right idea, and you would be right to advise people not to think, for the sake of your position.

Yep.
In order to remain a fundamentalist, one's mind and worldview must be kept rigidly narrow and myopic.

I've warned my children to stay away from this mentality, it's destructive and inhibits growth.
