John 14:7-8 reads;

If you know me, you will know my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him." 8 Philip said to him, "Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied."

Jesus said that they knew Him and have seen Him from then on but Philip did not understand so clearly Jesus was not speaking of them.

I believe He was speaking of those who would follow Him as He was sent by the Father. Remember Jesus said only those who come from God have seen the Father. So He was saying that those who truly follow Him come from God and have seen the Father.

John 6:46 (NRS) Not that anyone has seen the Father except the one who is from God; he has seen the Father.

Do you come from God?

I do.

How you might ask? Follow and see. It is not as man thinks.

God the Creator moves through Jesus , and people see Father God by the miracles , where as today Christians have Jesus , and can have Gifts of the Holy spirit , and this working of miracles through the Spirit is the creator Father God ....... Jesus is the Redeemer , and Saviour ........Holy Spirit is the deliverer of the grace of God

In the end it's just one man's written story. Since no two people can agree on the meaning, the story should be taken with a grain of salt. The fact that the story is popular and entertaining enough to make it into the Bible doesn't mean that it is the word of God necessarily.

What the top scripture is saying is that to know what kind of person God is, all one must do is look at what kind of person Jesus is. Jesus is kind, loving, caring, extremely intelligent, etc etc. This means that his Father is the same. So being 'seen' is not literal but more like how someone says, 'I see your point'. No one literally 'sees' the point. It's more of an understanding. So to understand God one simply looks to Jesus. The bottom scripture is saying that only Jesus, God's Son has literally seen God with his eyes. Exodus 33:20 reminds us, “You cannot see my face, for no man can see me and live.” A man can't literally look on God's face and survive.

The bottom verse is not speaking physically either. To see the Father one must come from God. That is why the disciples did not understand even though Jesus said they did but He was speaking of a genuine disciple. The eleven were merely stand ins. They didn't achieve the graduation.

So the 11 disciples didn't know God?

Really?

Weird how the Bible says NOTHING of that, the early church never taught it, and historical Christianity never taught it.....but you have it figured out 2000 years later.

Hard to believe, I know but the son of man is on the rise. Join him and you will see.

Jesus whole mission was to be an example for the future son of man to mimic.
