Only the love of Christ is the embodiment of all that is good and perfect.............. consequently without the truth of Christ in one's heart that is the faith of Christ in them, one cannot have the love of Christ in them............. thems the facts
The law of faith is the law of Christ working through the faith of Christ in them, a man is then justified and above condemnation........... Christ = the man Jesus who was/is God incarnate
Ro.3:26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.
28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Just so you know there is a law of Christ........
Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
What is important is faith expressing itself through that of love, for love is what makes faith work!

And if we cant love ourselves then how can we love others ?. And if the image we hold of ourselves is one of vileness and filthy rags then how can we love ourselves, never mind others?.

Hating one's self does not produce love, it cuts your self-image to ribbons.
And before you quote, "love your neighbor as you love yourself", Jesus didn't give us a third commandment there, implying that we must FIRST love ourselves, and THEN we can love our neighbor.
Love is laying down your life for your friend. No where did He call us to love ourselves. Self love is why no one wants to sacrifice their carnal beastly nature on the altar. And that is not self hate, it's simply acceptance of the pot realizing what it was created for was to lay down it's life, that HE can live. Peace

The same spirit that says love your neighbor as yourself. How you love yourself is how you will love others. That beastly nature you see in others is only a reflection of how you are seeing yourself.

I speak in generalizations pertaining to man and the patterns that He established, THAT INCLUDE MYSELF, because I am created the same as you. It has nothing to do with self hate or self image, ect. That carnal beastly nature is part of all of us, G-d said it, and that doesn't make it "bad" or not "loving" to talk about it, the potter has every right to do as He wishes. He also gave us the way out of it. Lack of acceptance of the facts don't change it or diminish it's power, however. Peace
No, you have it backwards
Christ is Love and is God incarnate
It is through His faith in us we have access unto Him who is Love, Romans 5:2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
There is no escaping true faith that only works when one's beliefs in the 7 foundational doctrines about Christ are the truth (Heb.6:1-3 KJV)
This is why Jesus stressed faith and asked if He returned would he find faith............. because what is done not through faith is sin Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
You are the one who is in darkness relying on the "precepts and doctrines of men."
1 Corinthians 13:13
13 and now there doth remain faith, hope, love -- these three; and the greatest of these [is] love.
Agape love is what life is all about and you are distracted from it by dogma. Read 1 Cor 13 and get your priorities straight.
