"I do not believe that Jesus wants to have his disciples ‘repeat after Me.’ I believe He wants them to follow after Him!"

... sounds like something Gandhi would have said.

Of course Jesus would have His followers repeat after Him. He taught us the Lord's prayer didn't He? He wants us to say it.

Jesus taught us the "Our Father" but not the "sinner's prayer" though. Repeat after me is more than saying a prayer after He does but following Him and striveing to be like Him for the rest of our lives.

That quote came from the site you posted:

One of my old favorite Protestant writers, A. W. Tozer wrote, “I believe that a true ‘sinner’s prayer’ will gush out of anyone who is truly seeking God and is tired of being enslaved to sin. (Matthew 5:6) The very act of ‘leading someone in a prayer’ is utterly ridiculous. You will find nothing even remotely like it in the Bible, or among the writings and biographies of those in Church history. It completely savors of crowd and peer pressure tactics, and (please forgive me) brainwashing techniques. I do not believe that Jesus wants to have his disciples ‘repeat after Me,’ I believe He wants them to follow after Him!

I would need to ask Steve Ray what he meant by that. Jesus did teach us how to pray with the Our Father but we also need to follow after Him.

Just curious as to why Jesus never "prayed" to other great people like Moses, or Daniel, or Samuel?

Such an idea of foreknowledge leads to a lot of trouble in the human free-will, Diety-want-vs-get, Deity-honesty and possibilities department.

If Yahweh knew Paul would "disobey" given the conditions Yahweh set up, Yahweh could have just controlled against such conditions in order to have Paul obey. Otherwise, Yahweh is misleading (depending on what he wanted).

Jesus wouldn't pray to "great people" since He is God.
