Three beliefs about salvation

1- Such a belief is unnecessary.

2- See #1.

3- See above.

I do not expect you to raise your compassion or empathy to a higher level of understanding.

I've read your resume.

There is at least one other doctrine of salvation---the Wesleyan idea which draws partially from the Armenian "free will" aspect.

Quote:
What is the Augustinian/Pelagian Debate?

The Augustinian/Pelagian Debate is the debate between the idea that God is responsible for man’s salvation and the idea that man is responsible for his salvation. Augustine taught that God initiates man’s salvation and completes it apart from man’s cooperation. Pelagians taught that man can initiate moves toward God – that man’s will is neutral and could choose right apart from grace.
--------
How does the doctrine of prevenient grace bring balance to this debate?

The doctrine of prevenient grace brings balance to this debate by asserting that God initiates salvation by giving to all mankind the grace to seek God. When man by grace responds to God’s call, God gives him more grace. Salvation is all by grace, but man cooperates with that grace. Man can choose to respond to grace or to reject it.
--------
What scriptural evidence supports the doctrine of prevenient grace and cooperating grace?

Scriptures that support the concept of prevenient grace and cooperating grace include Titus 2:11, which says that the grace of God which brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us to deny ungodliness. John 1:9 says that Christ is the light that lights every man coming into the world. Philippians 2:12-13 tells us to work out our salvation, for it is God that works in us both to will and to do of his good pleasure. John 6:44 says that no one can come to Jesus unless the Father draw him. Apart from the drawing grace of God, we cannot enter into a relationship with Christ.
Salvation - WesleyanTheology.com

My own thoughts line up more closely with the Wesleyan idea than with the others. It still leaves much to bicker over as I don't necessarily believe everyone is drawn to God by the RELIGION of Christianity. Many on here have a more fundamentalist view that I left a number of years ago by growing out of it in the Spirit. If God is the God of all, He speaks in ways that appeal to different men and women in different cultures.

I much like the Wesleyan thought that as man responds to the grace of God's call, God gives him/her more grace. It kind of parallels the parable about the one receiving more "talents" (money) is expected to return more to God (Matt 25:14-30

And I'm definitely a "free-will" believer! The gospel message is really quite simple.

Post To Chanoka re testimony of Rodger Tutt

Quoted from AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF WORDS – Louis Abbott
"Forever and Ever"--A Poor Translation
Chapter Five

The smoke of their torment rises for a limited period of time. Here is the proof.
Why Can't Aionas Ton Aionon Mean Eternity?

EVENTUALLY EVERYONE WILL BE SAVED
Everyone who is cast into the lake of fire which is the second death will be saved out of it including all who were not in the Lamb’s book of Life.

“Where is a resurrection from the lake of fire taught in the scriptures

In Christianity forum here , we must believe in Jesus or we will be out of context and could be closed down ...... Jesus said from Luke 13: 2-5 ........ ``Suppose you that these Galileans were sinners above all Galileans , because they suffered such things? I tell you Nay , but except you repent , you will all likewise perish ...........Or those eighteen , upon whom the tower in Siloam fell , and slew them , think you that they were sinners above all men that dwell in Jerusalem ? I tell you Nay but except you repent you will likewise perish`` ........... . See not everyone will be saved in the end , as only those who repent and seek Jesus out ..., as Jesus make it perfectly clear

Did the entire world go after Jesus? You are simply playing semantics here, the "all" in that verse refers to those that are in Christ obviously, since John 3:36 says that those who are not in Christ shall not see life!

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Default What the wrath of god will achieve

Greek scholar William Barclay wrote concerning kolasis aionion (age-during corrective chastisement) in Matthew 25:46
"The Greek word for punishment is kolasis, which was not originally an ethical word at all. It originally meant the pruning of trees to make them grow better. There is no instance in Greek secular literature where kolasis does not mean remedial punishment. It is a simple fact that in Greek kolasis always means remedial punishment. God's punishment is always for man's cure."

See what other Greek scholars say about it too.
AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF WORDS – Louis Abbott
Chapter Eleven

Fifteen literally translated (not interpretively translated) Bibles that reveal what God will do with the sinners in Matthew 25:46
Concordant Literal, Young’s literal, Wilson’s Emphatic Diaglott, Rotherham’s Emphasized, Scarlett’s, J.W. Hanson’s New Covenant, Twentieth Century, Ferrar Fenton, The Western New Testament, Weymouth’s (unedited), Clementson’s, The New Testament of our Lord and Savior Jesus Anointed, The Restoration of Original Sacred Name Bible, Bullinger’s Companion Bible margins, Jonathan Mitchell’s translation (2010).

Regarding the meaning of aionios, many Greek scholars agree with John Wesley Hanson.
AIÓN – AIÓNIOS
AIN -- AINIOS
Dean Hough wrote “The definition given in THE VOCABULARY OF THE GREEK TESTAMENT (edited by James Hope Moulton and George Milligan) is helpful. Concerning aionios we read, “In general, the word depicts that of which the horizon is not in view . . .” (p.16). If the horizon of the extermination spoken of by Paul in 2 Thessalonians 1:9 is simply not in view, then we can see that what Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:22 can truly occur. The same all who are dying in Adam, which includes some who incur eonian extermination, can indeed eventually be vivified in Christ.
The Bible, in fact, does not speak of judgment and condemnation, death and destruction, hades and Gehenna, or any of these serious consequences of sin, as unending. It may refer to them as not having the end in view, but none of these fearful works of God can keep Him from achieving His will (1Tim.2:4); reconciling all through the blood of Christ’s cross (Col.1:20, and becoming All in all (1 Cor.15:28).”
Dean Hough

"playing semantics" is exactly right.
