Although Christ told us general signs, His return will still be like a thief in the night because we do not know the day nor hour.
Very true! I will either meet Him in the air at the Rapture or when I die, either way I'm ready.

I won't hold my breathe for and answer.
SouperStar34: And will fire and smoke and brimstone come out of their mouths and with it will they kill a third of mankind? And do you really expect a 200 million-man army on HORSES?

Notice that Revelation 9:14 speaks of ANGELS being released, angels "who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year." It was they who were released "to kill a third of mankind." Notice also in chapter 9, verse 7 that the shape of the "locusts" was "LIKE horses prepared for battle. They had faces like men, hair like women, and teeth like lions' teeth! They had wings! This is all figurative language--imagery.

The "two hundred million" are actually "two myriads of myriads." This is all symbolic of a great number.

Myriad--"Amounting to a very large, INDEFINITE number. The Greek word is murias meaning "innumerable, a great number."

I am assuming that you are expecting EXACTLY 200 million and not one more or one less! That is not the meaning here!

You can breathe now.

Yes, God keeps His promises. What you call the "Jewish people" are not the Jewish people of the OT to whom God made those promises. Those promises were made to the true Israel of God, the remnant, with whom He made a NEW COVENANT which was not like the one He made with their fathers, WHICH THEY BROKE (See Jeremiah 31). He was to write His laws on the hearts of His people and He would be their God. This is all fufilled in the Church through the blood of this new covenant. The Church is the true seed of Abraham and in her God fulfills His promises!

[quote=SouperStar34;4188524]The Bible states that when the Jews reclaim the land of Israel, the generation that sees this happening will not pass with out the return of Christ.

God has made a number of promises... he has never backed out one.

Where is that in the Bible, SouperStar? Is that your interpretation of Matthew 24:34? That is not what Jesus said. Jesus was clearly speaking to those first-century disciples standing right there with Him. He said to THEM:

"THIS generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place."

EVERYTIME Jesus used the expression "this generation" He meant His contemporaries--EVERYTIME.

Furthermore, to whom did Jesus say--

"Now learn the parable of the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves YOU [His disciples standing right there with Him] know that summer is near. So YOU also [those same disciples standing right there with Him] when YOU see ALL these things, know that it is near--at the doors!"

The signs were for THAT generation in which Jesus lived and not for any other!

Dear Lord,

Cheers for promising to cast everyone down to Hell who seeks any form of logic in their lives. What a great bloke you must be.

Keep up the good work your Loveliness,

Good video.... I need to start preparing.

1) get debt free.
2) find the best secure job
3) learn how to live from the earth (or atleast have knowledge)
4) always have stocked food.
5) get a bike
6) study health and nutrition (I just may have to be my own doctor).
Yes, it "kind of reminds you of Jesus talking in [sic] Matthew 24 ay? But, guess what? He is not speaking to US? Have you noticed the YOUs in that passage? We are not the ye!

Jesus was speaking to those disciples standing right there with Him--THEY were to hear of wars and rumors of wars; THEY were to be killed and persecuted and hated; THEY were to see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet.

Yes, there are earthquakes today--but they are not THOSE earthquakes Jesus predicted in Matthew 24.
Yes, there are pestilences today--but they are not THOSE pestilences Jesus predicted in Matthew 24.
Yes, there are famines today--but they are not THOSE famines Jesus predicted in Matthew 24.

Let's refrain from "newspaper exegesis!"

To whom is Jesus directly speaking in Matthew 24, SouperStar?

As Christians (gentiles) we need to stand united for the Jews and Israel. God blesses those who bless His chosen people. The temple does not have to be rebuilt before the rapture. It will be (or already has been) rebuilt, but couldn't this also be symbolic like others like to point out about everything else? I don't believe it is symbolic, but who's to say that it's not symbolic in reference to the restoration of Israel as a nation? Just a thought.
The Church is God's chosen people! The Israel of today is not the Israel of the Bible. What happened in 1948 was an act of the U.N. and not a fulfillment of God's promises.

His promises to Israel are kept in the Church, the true Israel of God!

In that same passage (Matthew 24) Jesus said the Gospel would be preached to the WHOLE world. NOW how can that be if the Gospel just began!

In the year 2008, still not everyone has heard about Jesus, yet we are VERY close.

Therefore, there is NO WAY Jesus was talking about the present generation.

That is why the disciples say: "Tell us about the future."
