Was Jesus actually hated for his religious teachings that undermined the Pharisees, or was he wanted because he was a threat to the governing authorities?

Neither. He was hated because the prince of this world hates Him. The rest were just puppets on his string.

One of the attributes He displayed was El Yon, possessor of heaven and earth, and a direct affront to the existent ruler, especially when He showed He could control poverty (gold coin in fishes mouth), food supply (fishes and loaves), sickness (multiple healings), and death (Lazarus), all of which are under Satan's captured dominion in his displacement of Adam.

And he will and does hate those sons that are raising up in the same authority and power as the Head. Peace

In Matthew 27:18 ...``The Governor Pilate knew that they had handed Him over because of envy ``......In Mark 15:10...For he knew that the chief priest had delivered him for envy ..................The covetous sin of envy or jealousy means it made them fell inadequate , which is sin because of the devalue of themselves and a demonic nature

He was killed because His Teachings were far too liberal for the conservative religious leaders. They were the ones who made sure that He was killed. Even today, the conservatives, who CLAIM to be Christians actually HATE His Teachings because those Teachings are too liberal for their tastes. These people have mistakenly been taught that there is such a thing as "Conservative Christians". Since this is an oxymoron, there is no such thing. A person is either a conservative or he or she is a Christian. It is impossible to be both.
Pontius Pilate (the Roman government) could find no fault with Him. In other words, He didn't break any Roman laws.

Yeah, if you don't support high taxes and big government, you're not a Christian. According to our liberal friends, your charitable works matter not.

You mean teachings like ""Do not judge, or you too will be judged"?

This is where you show a less than intelligence. The Teachings of Jesus Christ have very little to do with the government and ALOT to do with social issues. In 2016
Jesus Christ would be against guns or defending oneself in any way.
Jesus Christ would be against the mistreatment of blacks, browns, gays, women, women who have had abortions, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, the mentally and physically handicapped, etc.
Jesus Christ would be against public prayer.
He would against the belief in a theocracy and He would be for the separation of church and state.

and as far as high taxes are concerned, Jesus Christ said "Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's (taxes) and unto God what is God's".

Since the definition of Christianity is "Christ-like" and Jesus Christ was/is a liberal, then conservatism is anti-Christian.

He was never persecuted. Once arrested, he was tortured, and killed. He never suffered harm during his ministry.

Jesus brought us a complete new set of theology which only makes sense when you are humble and obedient. It's said Law is no longer effective in dealing with sins. Jesus said that people may find His words not sound because they'd like to stay in the darkness instead of in the light.

The reality is, even to the Jews, a prophet sent is usually killed but somehow the message brought will last.
