I assume everyone here has heard of the "snake handling" churches that exist primarily in Appalachia.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake_...ptural_support

They base their practices on a passage in the "long ending" of the Gospel of Mark (Mark 16: 17-18).

Can you quote Scripture as evidence their beliefs are incorrect?

Jesus' reply to Satan when he tempted Jesus to jump from the pinnacle of the temple.
''You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'' Matthew 4:7.

Yup!

Evidently these folks missed the entire point of what the scripture says.

Do you think that they could present evidence that they have or have ever had the particular spirit of Passover Atzereth which let's a person lay hands on the dead to be resurrected, to lay hands on the deaf and blind to heal them?

They can't do any of the things the first disciples did, why would they be able to handle snakes? A person wouldn't go out looking to handle snakes anyway. Paul was bitten by one and he wasn't looking to get bitten but he just tossed it off.

There is a great deal of scripture written to people who had obtained the spirit of Shavuot, the conclusion day of the Passover season. Those people went into villages and healed everyone, every one. They resurrected the dead, the blind saw, the deaf heard and miracles followed them everywhere.

That spirit was foretold to come and it was also foretold to leave until the second giving of the spirit would come in the last days on the conclusion day of the fall high holy days.

Shemini Atzereth is the conclusion day of the fall, the Pentecost of the fall and on this day the sprit will again be given but it will not be shared as the first was shared from hand to hand, and it will only come to those people who pray for the rain and who have prepared to receive it. Those people will have a warning just as the first disciples were warned, we are also promised a warning so that we will know the day and the hour but if we will not watch then Jesus will come upon us like a thief and we will not know.

Actually there is fallen angels which look like snakes or serpents , and these hold curses on man that only Jesus Christ can break .... many of the fallen angels serpents are like the red serpents hold curse of pride and yellow serpents hold curses of timid , green serpents hold curses of sexual perversion . white serpents hold curses of contention and false religion , giant serpents hold curses on self glory , satan serpent in the Garden of Eden ........ Like the story of Saint Patrick who was known to remove all the snakes out of Ireland , was probably referring to the fallen angels who look like snakes in the unseen spirit only seen by people who have gifts of seeing into the spirit through God`s eyes ...................handling natural reptile snakes in the church would be nonspiritual
