Actually, it's a fact of life, as people struggle everyday to keep their head above water.
The Body of Christ worldwide owns enough resources to ensure nobody in the Body of Christ anywhere in the world should ever go hungry, naked, or homeless.

No one likes to be told that they're self-absorbed.
So, let's make that all inclusive without divisions.
The Church isn't responsible for caring for all of humanity. But it will always have resources to care for all its members, no matter how many are members.
And that care is not necessarily a matter of money:
“Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life." -- Mark 10
What Paul describes in 2 Corinthians 8 is merely the application of Jesus' words.

It is not about how much you can attain for yourself, it's where your heart is.
Expatca is right on here.............Tithing is not required of Christians. It was for the Jews and was paid on crops and flocks not other work. Today giving according to scripture is voluntary. Churches requiring Tithes are ignoring scripture. It is not mentioned or required in the NT of Christians, just the Jews.
Tithing was for Israel's 12 tribes to support the Levitical priests who weren't allowed to own land so couldn't grow crops.
Today we have free will giving and offer whatever the Spirit leads us to give........and its out of what we already have

Your post #48 doesn't make sense compared to this one.
If you think that a system by which everyone shares to make sure everyone's needs are met is "economic slavery" (which is the typical Western reaction to such a system), why are you now saying "it's not how much you can attain for yourself?"
