Why do parents who may have been raised Catholic but do not go to church feel it's important to have their children do first holy communion prep classes and then the ceremony? What's the point if you do not feel connected enough to your church to attend otherwise? Same question for confirmation.
Because they said that they would before a Priest would officiate at their wedding? To keep peace among the grandparents and extended family? As an opening ceremony for a Sunday afternoon party?
