It is threads like this which remind me a) why I am in ministry (UCC - nice, open, accepting denomination), who I am fighting against (ignorant, close-minded, judgemental, bible is perfect fundamentalists) and why I don't post much (it is easier to break down a brick wall by banging my head against it then open a mind closed to rational thought).
Carry on.
Is there rational thought in the UCC? I was not aware of that.

Thanks for the post.
I do apologize if my agreeing with the 'pot and kettle' comment somehow implied that you were being as judgmental as Vizio normally is. The 'slight' was intended for Vizio, not you.
"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
We often forget some very important details as Christians, love, mercy, justice, and of course the main thrust of the gospel, grace. I would gladly welcome any gay man or woman into my church, sit with them, not judge them, and provide them my love and support as they walk through life. I have and already do. This is our duty. It is the Holy Spirit's job to do the rest.
Without "agape" love, nothing we say will have any substance.

Amen?
Well, an "Amen" might be in order as long as you're not implying that it's the Holy Spirit's job to turn the gay person straight because 'being gay is a sin'. IS that what you're implying?

Don't push it, Romulus. What you are trying to combat is what only remains within his head and that poses no threat to any homosexual. Sheesh!! The quest for extreme outcomes seems not to be limited to the fundies.

I understand the post very well. The church generally has failed here remarkably. We are all broken in some way or another, don't you think? I know I am, and need constant direction and healing from Him (and I fail repeatedly). Without Him, I would be in complete desperation. Some people aren't like me, it is easy to walk in the Spirit and hardly ever skip a beat. Some people can do it without God, but that is just because they are endowed with a conscience of right and wrong through the "image of God" (Romans 2:14-15), albeit inconsistent in their existentialism.
We all search for ways to be intimate, whether it is with things, people, or places. Sometimes we find it in unhealthy places, with people likewise detrimental to our restoration...but the point you bring up is true, yes, finding intimacy in any kind of behavior that isn't comparable to what God intended (Genesis 2:22-24; Matthew 19:4-6; et. al.) is a distortion of God's sexual characteristics for mankind. Satan has told us another lie and we believed it, just like Eve. We didn't believe God. Unbelief results in sin. Yet, Paul groups sin in one lump sum (Romans 1:18--31; et. al.), they are all the same. Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, enables us to grow deeper in relationship with Christ, and by His grace alone, can the brokenness in us which causes us to seek other people, places and/or things to satisfy our spiritual needs becomes a non-sequituir for our soul. It is because of Christ's love, grace, His mercy, consistently calling our hearts to be deeply closer "in" Him, to want to please Him, to want to be more "like" Him (1 John 3:2). So yes, as we grow closer to Jesus Christ, we conform to Him, and all sin eventually gets dealt with when He says it's time. Blessings.
Moral per God's Word the Holy Bible between a male and a female.
"That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."
Yet your Jesus didn't do that. 33 years of age at a time and in a society where males got married in their teens, still single and hanging around with a bunch of guys. Perhaps your Jesus was gay huh?
