I'm not a new Christian (well, I guess I'm relatively new to many others!), but I sometimes struggle with the feeling that God is disappointed in many of my actions. I'm learning to come to grips with that. I am learning that if I believe that God won't forgive me, then I am basically declaring that Jesus' death was all in vain.
Many have this problem and the underlining issue for many is they can't forgive themselves.
God can forgive is for any sin, except one, and if we feel bad about our sinning we have not committed that one. The key is acting on our concern to remove it. Change from what was done that causes the worry to a better way.

The people who were doing all of those things were forgiven when they turned to Christ and changed.
I talked to my father about this film and he said it is no good. He said there is an argument being made that ALL people go to Heaven - in other words, it's wishy washy "progressive" Christianity.

Yes. The author of the book, William P. Young, recently came out as a Universalist. I heard him in an interview several months back where he said he believes all are saved.

What a horrifying thought, and how out of character for the God who is love not to allow people to exist in pain and agony for eternity.

Yes, God loves. But God also hates sinners. If your view of God is so small that you can't fathom him having more than 1 attribute, then your god is too small.

If your view of the God who IS love includes the concept of God punishing people with eternal torment, your idea of love is beyond warped, and your god is infinitely more evil than any earthly tyrant ever has been or could be.

No christian in their right minds unless brainwashed really believes their unbelieving friends and family who have not acccepted the message of the evangelicals will be punished with eternal torment. If they did they would at the very least be praying to God 24/7 for them and doing everything else they could possibly do to save them from such a fete, whether it fell on deaf ears or not. Think about it you evangelicals, your unbelieving family and friends are going to be tormented eternally and what are you doing about it?, nothing because deep down you do not really believe it, that voice in you that says this can never be right is not the devil it is God, but you won't have it because you are in way to deep too believe otherwise.

I'm sorry that you place so much emphasis on 1 verse that you ignore the other verses talking about God's other attributes.
What might they be?. If you say holy, can you expound on what you mean by holy.
I've told you. Romans 9 clearly states that God hates sinners. Romans 1 and Ephesians 2 talks about God's wrath. The fact that you can't seem to realize that he has more than 1 attribute is interesting.
Fact is, God is wrathful, and just. He will punish sin. That's why Jesus died on the cross.
