As scripture say, the Lord says; "The person who sins shall die."
"The righteousness of the upright is their own and the wickedness of the wicked is their own."
Ezekiel 18:20 "The person who sins shall die. A child shall not suffer for the iniquity of a parent, nor a parent suffer for the iniquity of a child; the righteousness of the righteous shall be his own, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be his own."
1. Since Adam brought sin into the world, every human being is born into sin. It is impossible for us to be blameless, perfect or righteous.
2. God is perfectly just, holy and righteous. He cannot allow wrongdoing to go unpunished. If He did, He would be unjust.
So because of these two incompatible truths, God sent Jesus, His Son to be a perfect, unblemished sacrifice to die and take the penalty for our sin. It was the ultimate sacrifice of love.
So now you personally have the offering of Jesus' atonement to allow you to one day spend an eternity in the presence of God. If you love God than this is the most amazing news you've ever heard. I know it was for me.
I have asked this question at a couple of websites and never gotten a good answer. I might as well go for it here. It isn't actually a Bible passage, per se, but I have often heard the term "Jesus died for your sins". For years this proclamation has perplexed me. How did Jesus's death have any effect on my sins? If Jesus had lived to a ripe old age and died of a heart attack, how would my sins be any different today in any real, discernable way?
What you have run into is the age-old question of "atonement." You will find there are several ideas of why it is needed and how it works, but the simple fact is that we screw up our relationships and need to know that we can be forgiven. The idea that God loves us unconditionally is foremost in that process as that represents the best of what it means to be human. Unfortunately humans tend to react when hurt by denial of the very feelings that cause us to feel that hurt. How can we get past that? "Atonement" just means that we CAN.

Yes. We celebrate great personal sacrifice all the time. Whether it is a soldier throwing himself on a grenade or a father running back into a burning building to save his family. All of these pale in comparison to what Jesus did for all of us on the cross.

G-d hates human sacrifice, He said so...He also said that each man shall pay for his own sins...
"He is not like other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices every day for his own sins first and then for the sins of the people. . . . He offered one sacrifice once and for all when he offered himself. He did not take the blood of goats and calves to offer a sacrifice; rather he took his own blood and obtained an eternal salvation for us. He offered himself as a perfect sacrifice to God. For this reason, Christ is the one who arranges a new covenant so that those who have been called by God may receive the eternal blessings that God has promised." [Hebrews 7:27; Hebrews 9:12-15]
You misunderstand the context for the 'human sacrifices' you're referring to and the great sacrifice of Jesus.
Also, Scripture clearly teaches of Christ's atonement for the sins of man.
I am not misunderstanding anything...G-d states that He abhors human sacrifice...He also states that no one may pay for the sins of another, each will pay for their own sins...

If G-d abhors human sacrifice then why would He accept a human sacrifice?...
