Did Jesus hate those who hated Him, or did He love them.

What part of loving others, loving in deed and truth, letting all that you do be done in love, letting love bind things in perfect harmony, God IS love, and "anyone who does not love, does not know God" do you not understand? Why isn't love the center of your life? Why isn't it the foundation of your faith? Doesn't Paul warn us that whatever "gifts" we may possess -- or even faith-- mean absolutely nothing at all without love?
Why kickest thou against the pricks?

What made the author say 'God is love'? It is because God sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Propriation = satisfaction and appeasement.
Ironically the people who claim God is love (and nothing else), reject the reason why the author said it in the first place. They do not believe Jesus was sent for that reason. To them god is love, and love is god, a feeling, or a principle, not the creator of the universe.
His plan to intentionally sacrifice his own son, so that others may live, was indeed founded in love. The "God is love" passage is not the only passage where that fact is pointed out.

Let's revise that to include "what made SEVERAL authors say 'God is love.'" And let's not forget that Jesus Himself COMMANDED us that we love one another.

This isn't a discussion about propitiation. It is a discussion about the primary characteristic of God. Propitiation is but one illustration of that characteristic.
Did any of the authors of the "love" verses state that we should serve God because we are "satisfied?" Or did they say we should love because we ARE loved?
