How does one become great in the world? How does one become great in the kingdom of God?
World - people serve you.... God - you serve others
World - accumulate more.... God - give more
World - function by sight.... God - function by faith
World - seek popularity .... God - seek your heavenly Father in secret
It's a totally different operating system.
Amen! Being not conformed to this world means to not be ensnared by it's system, it's love of money, power, privilege and seeking to be admired. Look at how the system of the world (which is the spirit of anti-Christ) rules via the power of the air (TV, Radio, Human Voice, Internet/Cloud, Etc.) You need to accumulate followers to see how wonderful YOUR earthly life is, to see what great vacations you and your family enjoy taking, to see how good you look -- how well you are aging. It's all about vanity and the love of money and the escape from the discomforts the poor must endure.

wow, this describes 90% of god's self-proclaimed preachers and servants walking on earth today...in other words don't be as arrogant and full of one's self as a Pharisee would be...
A lot of churches should heed and take note of these verses, if they have the guts to face the honesty. Many are more like the world than what Jesus intended. A thorough and intense housecleaning is needed.
I see proof of this in my own hometown all the time!
I have noticed all the churches, no matter what denomination, they all have very good relationships with the city, county and state. A few years ago, when someone was breaking into and robbing churches, some local police (from the secular city police dept) actually worked the case like it was personal to them, they even worked off the clock to help solve it.
This is pretty odd imo, a church and a secular city should not be so buddy-buddy, that fact that they are,I think proves a lot of compromise is going on. Ive said it before, its literally impossible to be faithful christian AND a model secular citizen at the same time.
Jesus warned we would be hated and despised by those of this world (the secular world), when they are NOT hating and despising though...there is probably a reason for that!
Do you seek the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life? Then you don't belong to Jesus because you're of the world.
1 John 2
[15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
[17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
Not having power over the world is to be conformed to the world. Blessings, AJ
The power which come for Christians who bow out of the issues of sin of the world on their lives , this power comes from God , as it keeps broken curses broke so prayers can be answered by the living God
There is a definite difference between "having to" and wanting to". The one is a law the other is Grace.
Not conforming is, wanting to verses having to.
Grace, via the love of God, enables us to want to live right without a law.
Blessings, AJ
The grace of God is amazing.
