A bare assertion is not always the naked truth.

And as gospel writer Luke wrote at Acts 3:23 that the soul can be destroyed.
( destroyed as to totally include physical death and spiritual death )
Or as Psalm 92:7 says the wicked will be 'destroyed forever' (annihilated).
If we do Not want to ' perish ' (be destroyed) then we need to ' repent ' according to 2nd Peter 3:9.

So, the only hope for a dead person, a dead soul, is the resurrection hope of Acts 24:15.
A dead person cannot do anything. A dead person cannot repent by his/her own willpower. God grants repentance. Salvation is of God - it is HIS WORK in us. We cannot choose God. God chooses us, when he will - in his time. We can plant seeds, but we cannot cause anything to come alive. Being born into this world is being born into the realm of death. The only hope of mortals is for God to reveal Christ in us.

Agreed. But in context.....the nakedness was of the mind.
The reality of Adams finding himself naked was his mind.
Discovery was an intelligent decision.

He had become "as one of us"....as gods.
"Lest they reach out and take of the tree of life and live forever".....God removed the tree of life from them.

Mankind was forced to live on the earth , take Dominion and become fruitful and multiple.

God had plans to reinsert the tree of life
later into the affairs of mankind.

Guess when, where and what that tree of life was?

Now, the words "lest they reach out and eat of the tree of life" became a reality in Jesus.

Can you see God in the works?
He has been in it all along.

The only reservation mankind now has....and that is in reaching out to eat of that tree.

The fruit of that tree is Jesus.

You eat the fruit of that tree and you shall live forever.

The naked truth? Circumsion of the heart to expose the head......Jesus.

Blessings, AJ

22 Now the Lord God said, "Behold man has become like one of us, having the ability of knowing good and evil, and now, lest he stretch forth his hand and take also from the Tree of Life and eat and live forever."

Rashi:

has become like one of us, having the ability: He is unique among the earthly beings, just as I am unique among the heavenly beings, and what is his uniqueness? To know good and evil, unlike the cattle and the beasts. — [from Targum Jonathan, Gen. Rabbah 21:5]

and now, lest he stretch forth his hand, etc.: And if he were to live forever, he would be likely to mislead people to follow him and to say that he too is a deity (Gen. Rabbah 9:5). There are also Aggadic midrashim, but they cannot be reconciled with the simple meaning.

..."likely to mislead people to follow him and to say that he too is a deity"...

Says nothing about misleading people.....but rather....."take also from the Tree of Life and eat and live forever."......"Live Forever" means not being in the flesh....

1Co_15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Adam and Eve's ability to discern good from evil corrupted them so they could not possibly inherit incorruption.

Now Jesus, though He be formed from the same lump of clay, had not ADAM'S spirit but God's Spirit.

He was not corrupted and could not be corrupted.

Instead, He took on the corrupted state of mankind and crucified it to the cross, ending it once and for all time.

The book of Revelation is about Jesus' battle in delivering all of us from a corrupted state into an incorruptible state.

That is the theme of the whole bible, from Genesis to Revelation. It's about Him delivering us.

Blessings, AJ
