Pointing it out is useful, because it shows the "fruit" of their views. I have noticed a long time ago that this kind of behavior goes hand in hand with universalist teachings. One board was closed down because of it.
Matt "The Oily One" Slick's fruit - his daughter - recognized the rot in her father's belief system. The same rot he posts - and allows to be posted - on his website for fundy bigots.
Don't you think respect is better than insults and personal attacks?
It goes back to "by their fruits you shall know them".
Why would you think its funny? Doesn't everyone deserve respect?
It would seem Mr Slick has neglected to gird his loins if he can't withstand a shot below the belt. His reaction to the insults are not an example of fruitages of the spirit.
The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is a biblical term that sums up nine attributes of a person or community living in accord with the Holy Spirit according to the Epistle to the Galatians: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
About two or so years ago, the universalists started coming to the CARM boards and posting about universalism. That was fine since the boards cover other false belief systems as well. However, the universalists started going to all the boards saying that all people would be saved either in this life or in the afterlife. This effectively undermined the Christians who were witnessing to the lost since universlaism removed the urgency and need to come to Christ now. In other words, it gave the unbelievers the excuse to not worry about salvation because they would be guaranteed salvation in the next life.
Oh my!
It's all about improving other people? You want to "show up" other people with the intent of exposing them instead of learning and building up one another?
CARM?
You shouldn't be putting that dirty word in your mouth.
You added another question to which I will respond. Yes, people deserve respect. Ideas are not people and they, as such, don't have rights.
If you read through the list is insults they hurled at him, you'll have to agree they were not "ideas", but personal attacks.
