An F4 tornado struck Goshen United Methodist Church in Piedmont, Alabama, killing 20 members.
I suppose it must have been an act of the Almighty because they were all wretched sinners!

Nah. If they were Mennonites though, they would surely burn in Hell.

I don't believe God causes natural disasters. I believe Mother Nature, at times, whether intentionally or not, goes off her meds.
I was thinking about this today and was wondering what people in other towns thought about this event when it happened, surely some knew people from there or even had relatives/ friends that may have been there at the time. Im curious if people were in mourning over the destruction or if they recognized why it happened, who had done it, etc. Maybe some thought it was a natural disaster?
I assume if God did such a thing today, a large majority of people would be mourning the loss of life, and probably be outraged that God did such a thing in the first place, I have a feeling anyone that claimed to be followers of the God responsible for this, would be instantly demonized, they would be guilty of hate crimes and much more!
Would it even be a good thing in Gods eyes, for people to mourn the loss of life in this event, or would that be seen as blasphemous as God is the one who destroyed the cities?
You don't have to wonder what would happen. People are already claiming God's wrath for bad things that happen. There's even a thread on R&S right now linking school shootings to God being taken out of schools. They're aholes. Nothing is being "done" to them but for some reason you want to turn them into the victims instead of holding them accountable for what comes out of their mouths.

Actually the surrounding Nations were not happy with Sodom and Gomorrah either.
KJV Gebnesis: 20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
The people were happy to see it go. Not likely to be many relatives in other lands/cities either as most people stayed in the land of their birth.
I saw some documentaries about that that set me off considerably too. What fracking is doing to the environment, and to people that live close to fracking sites is unbelievable.

Poor mother nature, she only gets the blame for beauty, like a sunset, never really gets blamed for a disaster as that is always called "an act of God".
