It makes me wonder if his suicide had anything to do with someone convincing him he needed to go against his natural happy inclinations, and take life more seriously?

I'm just speculating from a distance. But he reminded me of one of those people who is always trying to be "up" or positive at all times and making people laugh. Like a class clown. More Robin Williams, though, than George Carlin. You can't deal with all issues with humor. Sometimes you need to acknowledge the darker things in life.

But, like I said, that's just my distant impression. I remember thinking that when I watched their videos.

I think I read that you like Crowded House on your profile and that was interesting because I LOVE those songs. So sorry to hear about the drummer, though.

You know they were becoming popular when U2 was as well. I was in Japan at the time. My second trip over and spent 5 months that go 'round. 8 months the first time. I was a heathen at the time, btw. I want to say that was '87. Got saved in 88.

I loved the band and don't mind the diversion of their music in this thread.

Lead singer Neil Finn and his brother go back longer than that, both great artists. I salute God in both of them.
