This is an opinion forum. People give their opinions. Does it matter what people think of Hitler? Not really, but some people look up to him as a hero, some as a devil. Gates isn't like Hitler, but people have varied opinions about him, some think he's a hero. I think he's a devil. Just voicing my opinion.

$5 will get you $10 that he's "Reformed Theology." Those people have the nastiest outlook about people you would ever hope to find (as if anyone would want to find such downers).
I was brought up in that mess. Fortunately, my parents didn't buy into it completely. They saw the negativity, Dad first, Mom in time.
Because Gates's net worth increases by $2 Million a day if he does nothing. Giving $6 million to pay for 300 student's college is not charity for him, it's PR. The foundation alone is worth $40 Billion. Gates is worth $90Billion.Together that's 130,000 times a million dollars. If he gave away $2 Million a day he would still have all of it forever. A million dollars for him is like a dollar for the average person. I don't think anyone who gives a dollar to charity should be regailed for their generosity.
How do you know this for sure? If he's already rich beyond most of us, how does giving away money to help others help him, if, as you say, his net worth increases by $2Mil a day by doing nothing? Can't someone be wealthy AND use it to help others? Why, in your mind, is there some alternative motive? I'm not being snarky, sincerely. I'd really like to know why you think that way?
You would have to understand why wealthy people are involved in charities. It's not done for altruistic reasons. It's done to control "charitable" organizations and people and resources in a tax free environment, have influence, for public relations, to ecxpand their own business connections and opportunities and for ego. Real charity would be if Bill put millions into helping people anonymously. Announcing he is helping 20,000 poor kids get a college education, when he is handing out just 300 scholarships in 2018, subject to reduction based on the parent's resources, and other available aid as stated on the Gates Scholarship site, seems like a PR stunt to me. First the amount involved is completely insignificant to him, he could easily buy a university and endow it to make it tuition free for everyone who attends. He could bring children from around the world to attend it. He could do that and not even feel any financial impact. Him granting 300 partial scholarships is like me putting a dollar in the poorbox. If I did that would I be providing charity? Sure. But if I did that I wouldn't want or expect press releases and praise for it. But everyone has a right to their opinion, right?
