Sounds like you’re the one with the problem, not the church. Rather than be served, find ways to serve others.

Kids are off from school in the summer and have more time to devote to camps, VBS and mission work. It’s common sense. Why are you so angry? Find another church if this one frustrstes you.

Looking for a place to volunteer, in a church or anywhere else, unless you enjoy what you'd be doing, may not be the best course. Especially since you mentioned having "value" in your first post. Do you know you are inherently valuable regardless of what you do or don't do? If you don't, then seeking to feel valuable through doing for others and feeling their gratitude might make you feel good for a bit. But relying on other people to be grateful to you or make you feel valuable will backfire because there will always be times when that's not forthcoming.

However, if you wish to, and if it's something you enjoy doing, why not seek it out? The joy of connecting with your own joy may give you the sense of value you're seeking. And you may find yourself working alongside others who also enjoy doing it which might help you feel connected.
