Sounds much more like job than sinful Adam
I would stop blaming yourself for mistakes of your kids
You need steady employment let the kids pay for their own mistakes your plate is full
God is their daddy they are grown now

It could be, if you're praying for a specific outcome that is dependent on human action.

For example, two football teams praying for victory. One's prayer will be answered, and one won't. Well, actually, NEITHER prayer will be answered because praying for something like that is just plain stupid in the first place, and yes, it a waste of time.

If, however, you pray asking to be shown what is the right thing to do in a given situation, you are asking for guidance instead of putting in an order for what you want. This may clear your preconceptions and open your mind to possibilities you hadn't thought of, and that would not be a waste of time.

The OP's question isn't really about prayer, though. It's about "If I do X, will that make God do Y."

No.

That's the only way to go - directly to God through Christ.

You need to get closer to God , and get a lead in the spirit through Jesus Christ , and Jesus said ,``Come to me , all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest........Take My yoke on you , and lean of me , for I am meek and lowly in heart and you will find rest on your soul ......, for My yoke is easy, and my burden is light `` ................... So instead of being yoked with the devil , believers in Christ who should have the baptism of Holy Spirit can easily find the lead in the spirit where to lean on the Lord . and troubles you come up with in the earth will be easier to over come Because the Lord is a comforter to victory , and the devil is a menace to confusion
