I wonder why you single out the first ten commandments when they are only the first ten of over 600 commandments for the ancient nation of ancient Israel.

In the old Hebrew Scriptures (Leviticus 19:18 ) we find the Golden Rule to love neighbor as self.
Whereas in Jesus' New Commandment of John 13:34-35 we are now to love neighbor 'more' than self.
We are to have the same self-sacrificing love for others as Jesus has.

As John said, it is not "new" from the standpoint of never having been in effect before. It is a "New Commandment" in the sense that it displaces and fulfils the puepose of the rest and is the "new" basis for a "New Covenant."

Oh, I like those:

  1. Not to intermarry with gentiles (Deut. 7:3) (CCN19). See Interfaith Marriages.
  2. To exact the debt of an alien (Deut. 15:3) (affirmative).
  3. To lend to an alien at interest (Deut. 23:21) According to tradition, this is mandatory (affirmative).
How different from Islam, where interest is forbidden.

A usury rate is a rate of interest that is usually considerably above current market rates. Usury rates are often charged by unsecured lenders on loans. These rates can be illegal in some countries and situations because they often take advantage of unsuspecting and/or more vulnerable individuals.
