Endless infinite tortures are deserved for any single sin?
If a single sin deserved endless torments, then does one who reaches the age of accountability (at 5,10, or 15 years of age, etc), commits one sin & dies, deserve to spend unending ages in torments? If so, then that’s like Augustine’s doctrine that unbaptized babies will suffer in hell forever.
Oh yeah. I grew up in a Calvinist church, the Reformed Church.
When I was around 35, a man my age whom I knew from childhood because our parents were friends shot himself in the head after his wife left him and took their children to another state and then emptied the bank account and cancelled all his credit cards. He also had been diagnosed with a progressive illness that would have eventually disabled him.
His parents were regular attendees at their Reformed Church. When they went to service the next Sunday, one of their fellow congregants approached the father and said, "I am sorry about your loss, but you know he went straight to hell because of what he did."
Love thy neighbor, eh? Not in the Calvinist tradition. It's a dark way of thinking, focused on hell and death and sin.
Whoever believes that has serious issues and should see a psychiatrist.
