Sort of a HUGE problem in today's society, don't you think?
I had always learned, that, any sex before being married was considered a sin, also sexual acts upon oneself (sorry.) That, if not within marriage, were considered a sin in the eyes of the Lord.
Now, if the goal of a Christian life is to not sin, and honor God.. This has ALWAYS created great conflict for me.
I may be in this category because even if I have not had sex, I cannot say I am innocent of.
If I am saved, (and I am, just backsliding. I also accept Christ back in every time I hear Joel Osteen or go to a service.. I have been Water Baptized one time,) then I am not sure if these things even matter.
Can anyone with Christian background help me out? I'm not really interested in the "There is no God" thing because I know that there is, and that his name is Jesus, son of the Father, who sits on the throne. The three in one.
The Bible is concerned with sex because of seed, seed lines, and health. The act of marriage before sex is/was to ensure the products of breeding, the offsprings, will have a safe, secure and nurturing environment.
Sex releases dopamine; the feel-good hormone. How people are able to get this release varies wildly, but some will definitely go to ends of the earth for it. Some people are even defined by it or lack of... Asexuality - Wikipedia
The bible testifies to itself. It never reads "all sexual sins" are listed in in just that one verse
Otherwise only you say it does, which means nothing.
The Bible teaches sex before marriage is sin in Galatians 5.
There are other sexual sins listed there too, adultery for example.
But again, I have no right to assume that list in Galatians 5 lists "all sexual sins"
when there is no scripture testifying to such
Exodus 22:16-17 King James Version (KJV)
16 And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
17 If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
thee is no punishment for having sex before marriage he should marry the women he slept with
Galations 5 does not mentioned sex before marriage
the old definition of fornication is sexual idolatry where sex is used in the worship of idols fornication before the 19th century did not mean sex before marriage
In 1 Corinthians 5 having sex before marriage is not even mentioned
adultery in old times means a man having sex with another man's wife

matthew 5:32 says But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication(strongs 4202), causeth her to commit adultery
how do married people commit fornication if it means having sex before marriage?

And yet god and the patriarchs are all good with RAPE?
Rape is normative in the Jewish and Christian Scriptures. The texts in which women are raped are legion: Numbers 31:15-18;
Deuteronomy 21:10-14;
Judges 19:22-26.
Shockingly, for many religious readers, God, Moses and the Torah call for the rape of women (and killing of their infants) as a normative practice in war. (I present at some length on sanctioned rape in the Scriptures here.) Perhaps most shocking of all is that the God of the text — who for many readers is their God — uses the language of rape normatively to describe his (in this case I yield to tradition) justified punishment of Israel, positioning himself as the rapist of his errant and deserving wife.

Answer: The Bible does address the issue of rape. As expected, when the Bible mentions the crime of rape, it is depicted as a gross violation of God’s design for the treatment of the human body (Genesis 34). The Bible condemns rape whenever it is mentioned. For example, there is a particular passage in the laws given to the nation of Israel before entering the Promised Land under Joshua’s leadership. This passage (Deuteronomy 22:13–29) spoke directly against forcing a woman into a sexual encounter against her will, or what we know today as rape. This command was meant to protect women and to protect the nation of Israel from committing sinful actions.
Deuteronomy 22:25–27 specifies the punishment the Mosaic Law required for a man who raped a betrothed woman. The man was to be killed by stoning while the woman was considered innocent. Though the Mosaic Law was for the nation of Israel during the time of Moses, the principle is clear that rape is sinful in the eyes of God and, under the Law, led to the most extreme punishment possible—death for the rapist.
I would recommend visiting the thread on sexuality in humans and considering the list of pirposes for sex. Consider the idea that profligate sex, besides an element of risk for stds may also blunt sensibilities required for the bonding effect so helpful in relationships.
Even if you don't sin, which is impossible since you will, that doesn't establish a relationship with your heavenly father. Listen to Greg Laurie on youtube. He has great sermons which are entertaining yet based on the truth of scripture.
You will not have this temptation likely....(but nothing is guaranteed) to this degree when you establish a relationship with Christ. You will slowly conform to his image as promised, which lessens the need to sin. Sorta like when you eat healthy and exercise, the temptation for junk food is kept at bay because you are giving your body, naturally, what it needs.
Sin is defined as transgression of the law, that is why those verses were listed. Galatians is not the law, but just a 1 way letter from Paul and since there was no book of Galatians in his time, Paul is teaching from the Torah about sexual immorality.
But that is an excellent point he made, every sort of sexual sin was listed in Lev 18: incense, homosexuality, bestiality, etc and not one mention of (Dont not have sex with someone you are not married to), when they are listing every kind of sexual sin.
I guess the better question would be, in the eyes of God, are you married to someone you have sex with, and if you have multiple partners are you an adulterer.
