although i believe in christ, i do not belong to a denomination, for christ can be worshipped anywhere.
also, i dont segregate from people who adhere to other religions or from those who adhere to secularism.
did the good samaritan ask the injured man his religion, political or socioeconomic status before helping him? no. it is important to note that jesus healed non-believers. according to jesus,the second most important teeaching is this: treat thy neighbor as you would yourself.
when jesus spoke to the samaritan women, he said this about this about worship:
John 4:20-24 (KJV)
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Yes, but this is the same God, that in the OT, instructed his faithful to go and slaughter blasphemers, even entire towns of people, to kill without mercy!

Thats the group I was thinking of too...they come to mind first as being a christian group that is truly hated and despised today, however, Jesus warned this kind of thing would happen to christians at some point.

jesus not only broke ancient social norms by conversing equally with a women, but he conversed equally with a women who was also a samaritan.
note: not only was it a punishable ancient offense to speak equally with a women or samaritan, but it it was also a stoneable offense in some ancient provinces.
seeing the news today, i see jesus teaching not only as relevant, but as practical as it was 2000 years ago
it is often taboo for one to be meek, merciful or pacifist without worrying about the social fallout or encroach to a mans masculinity
a group of people, who experienced a horrible tragedy, shocked the world and many leaders when they forgave
as a man who lives in a world that condones stoicism, i choose to not only be pacifist, but to forgive everybody
i do not do this to be self righteous, perfect or to be behaviorally rewarded.
i choose to forgiveness and pacifism because it is of my moral compass.

Yes. They have a really wonky theology where they believe the USA replaces Israel. So they are crying out that God is judging us, just as he judged Israel at times in the past. They really are quite different from historical, Biblical Christianity.
