Well, I guess that question was answered!

I don't find it offensive...do ya get offended when a child calls you a name he learned
or tells you the sky is really purple to him?
No, you smile, cuz it's all part of the steps to discovery.
To be offended it would have to be taken personally...and what does
that really mean? The reaction is coming from the ego...not the Christ in you..the Holy Spirit in you.
You believe anything you want, Sum Tingy.

Pope Francis:

...a Christian knows that in that same future there will be Christ’s return. No one knows when this will take place, but the thought that at the end of our history there will be Merciful Jesus suffices in order to have faith and not to curse life. Everything will be saved. Everything. (Not only sum ting, but every ting LOL)

General Audience of 11 October 2017 | Francis

I don't agree with that sentiment either, but they/we have the freedom in this country to believe and say that. I'm not offended by it. There are far worse matters going on in this country worthy of true offense and disgust.

It seems the wording "evolved" somewhat.

The Bible does speak about the Elect, and to say some people are part of the church and some are not is simply stating a fact.

I would have worded that as, "we believe it to be fact", or
"we are just stating what the Bible has said."
That's just me.
Facts and the Bible in the same sentence is a tough call...many metaphors, stories, parables
and I will just stop there, to be polite.
I know I have said stronger things in the past.

Jesus also could have been more polite, or politically correct, and they might not have crucified Him, but he spoke the truth, and it got Him killed. Very offensive. One of the things He spoke about was this "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him." If you listen to His drawing and believe He is the Savior, then you are one of the elect.

For those in my Church we consider ourselves as The Elect. We either have been predestined or freely chose salvation. Regardless, we are the Church. Many are not. So, why do some consider this statement as offensive?
Because it excludes them, and people would rather slam you than look in the mirror. People generally take the path of least resistance, and looking in the mirror provides a lot of resistance. Blaming you and your beliefs is much easier.

If he be lifted-up, he will draw ALL PEOPLE to himself. What you said is merely the perception of men who believe they have been selected, which falls under the heading of being ignorant, arrogant, and/or self-righteous.

Actually it was a quote from Jesus Christ, which is why you react like someone slapped your face. The message of the cross if offensive to many.

Your comment actually proves my point.

It was those who had religious beliefs similar to yours that crucified him. Never once was he ever on anyone's case other than those who belonged to the religious system of his day. Yes, of cause there was the temple scene, and those who who he chastised there were under the influence of that religious system in place. He actually said prostitutes, publicans and tax collectors were entering into the experience of kingdom living ahead of those that belonged to the religious system of his day. This was a massive swipe at the religious system, because being told such folk were entering the kingdom before them was an insult and an offence to them(Maybe Jesus could have been more polite or politically correct to them and they might not have crucified him).
